Being a part of the ISM® Conference Leadership Committee (CLC) has been has been a fantastic experience. The CLC is made up of a team of Procurement and Supply Chain practitioners that have experience in multiple industries. Our role is focused on planning the content, developing sessions and securing speakers who provide the right experience and insight for the audience. We are expected to bring our experience and knowledge as Supply Management leaders to drive ISM to have the content that is most relevant and of interest to our attendees.
The “Challenges Track”, which is one of the six learning tracks being offered at the conference, was developed given the significant challenges we are facing as professionals. We feel it is crucial that everyone have a better understanding of the ever-changing elements that impact and challenge the supply chain. Some of the sessions that are included in the track are topics such as risk management, cyber security, privacy requirements, international trade and many others.
This track will bring some very exciting elements to the conference. We will have nine sessions which will kick off on Sunday afternoon with our Signature Session. The signature session is a dynamic session highlighting that no organization is immune given the challenges faced in global supply management. We will have a panel of impressive senior leaders who will be diving into topics that many are reluctant to admit that they are struggling with, such as business continuity, cybersecurity and supply chain resilience.
Deborah Stanton, Executive Managing Director of CAPS Research, will share the latest research on these topics and moderate a candid discussion with these high performing executives from ABB, Hershey and Lootok. As the conference continues we will have break-out sessions featuring the following topics;
Lessons learned from rolling out a global supply chain risk and resiliency program- presented by Lootok and Mars
Keys to Failure- A senior executive from Anthem will be talking about Cyber Security and the challenges that they have experienced over the last few years.
The challenges and rewards from Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment in a global and matrixed organization - presented by ABB
Your Impact in 100 Days-The session details leadership challenges and lessons from the first 100 days operating in a transformational company presented by Here Technologies
Bringing Your Authentic Self to Work while excelling in different corporate cultures presented by Accenture
Addressing Risk in a Constantly Changing Environment presented by Liberty Hardware
Implementing a Risk Management Initiative- lessons Learned from Zimmer Biomet
From the Amazon to the Moon: The Possibilities for Procurement presented by Tania Seary, Founder, Procurious
These sessions will be vital to our own success especially in the environment we are facing today. As you see there will be a lot of fruitful content presented.
Attending ISM2018 in Nashville will provide significant benefits such as:
- As SCM professionals, we know the way to assess the value of a service is to evaluate its effectiveness of the service in relationship to the cost. The more benefit with lower costs demonstrates value for money. This conference has tremendous value. There is so much rich content with over 100 sessions with solutions that can be immediately applied in your workplace. These are real practitioners providing candid and thoughtful insights into the challenges they are facing – that we are all facing. An individual would have to spend literally tens of thousands of dollars to be exposed to this learning without attending this conference.
- It’s a tremendous personal learning environment. If you don’t take your professional development seriously, by developing a plan and attending this type of conference (and there is really nothing like it) then no one else will.
- The networking opportunity is phenomenal. You have all of these practitioners, thought leaders and consultants under one roof (albeit the Gaylord is a really big roof) and people are primed and receptive to networking. So, it is really an opportunity to build a community
